In an effort to improve the quality and competitiveness of the Indonesian maritime industry, PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) is actively collaborating with international classification bodies. One of the concrete steps taken is a visit to the Japanese Classification Body, Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (Class NK), on October 2, 2023.

This visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations between the two institutions and ensure effective implementation of previously agreed agreements. The main focus of this collaboration is on the development of domestic regulations (coastal shipping) that are in line with international standards.

As a positive response, the President Director of Class NK expressed his readiness to support BKI in its efforts to become a member of IACS. Membership in IACS will further strengthen BKI's position as an internationally recognized classification institution and increase the trust of maritime business actors in the services provided.

The cooperation between BKI and Class NK is expected to have a positive impact on the Indonesian maritime industry, including improving the quality of ship classification, developing human resources, and increasing the competitiveness of the Indonesian maritime industry in the global arena.
