PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) / BKI, as the lead of the Survey Services SOEs Holding, comprising PT SUCOFINDO and PT Surveyor Indonesia, organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) titled “Safely Transporting Battery-Based Electric Vehicles – Best Practices for Shipowners & Maritime Logistics.”

The event was held in a hybrid format at the Ali Sadikin Hall, Graha BKI, Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 7, 2025.
This forum served as a concrete form of collaboration in addressing both the challenges and opportunities arising from the rapid growth of electric vehicles (EV) in Indonesia, particularly with regard to the safety aspects of transporting EVs via sea.

The discussion explored strategies for implementing safety standards in EV maritime transport, covering operational and financial perspectives as part of risk mitigation efforts.
The event featured remarks from Arief Nurtjahjo, SVP of Classification Business Operations at PT BKI (Persero); Capt. Hendri Ginting, M.M., Director of Shipping and Seafaring at the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, who delivered the keynote address; and Alex Nurwahyudy, Marine Investigator at KNKT, who served as the moderator.
