The forum brought together key stakeholders from Indonesia’s maritime sector, including PT PAL Indonesia President Director Kaharuddin Jenod, IMATAP Director Tunggul Mahardi, PIKKI Chairman Ekki Komaruddin, and representatives from the national maritime supporting industry to discuss strategies for enhancing the domestic shipbuilding supply chain.

Representing BKI President Director R. Benny Susanto, Vice President of Classification Business Operations Munir Muradi highlighted the strategic importance of Indonesia’s maritime supporting industries in strengthening the country's industrial capabilities.

"The domestic maritime supporting industry plays an indispensable role in Indonesia’s maritime ecosystem. A strong and self-reliant supply of ship components and technical services not only reinforces the national supply chain but also enhances the country’s maritime resilience and sovereignty," he said.

Munir noted that long-term competitiveness depends on continuous innovation, robust quality assurance, and the ability to meet both domestic and international market demands. He emphasised PIKKI’s role as an important platform for collaboration, advocacy, and industry development.

"By strengthening collaboration among manufacturers, classification societies such as BKI, government stakeholders, and end users including PT PAL Indonesia, we can build an ecosystem that supports greater production capacity, technology transfer, and the adoption of higher quality standards," he added.

BKI reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the industry through internationally aligned classification standards that promote transparency, efficiency, safety, and quality. Munir also highlighted the importance of complementary initiatives, including innovation incentives, workforce competency development, improved access to financing, and stronger integration into strategic supply chains.

"PIKKI has the opportunity to become a catalyst for transforming Indonesia’s ship component industry. Let us seize this momentum to strengthen collaboration and accelerate the industry's growth together," he concluded.

The forum is expected to generate practical initiatives that enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia’s ship component industry while supporting the country's long-term goal of building a stronger and more self-reliant maritime sector.
