Jakarta, December 26, 2025 — PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) (BKI) has been awarded a Statement of Compliance (SoC) for its quality management system following the successful completion of an independent audit conducted by SGS China on December 26, 2025. The recognition confirms that BKI meets the international standards established by the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) for the delivery of classification and statutory services.
The Statement of Compliance serves as formal confirmation that an organization’s operational and quality management systems conform to applicable international requirements. For BKI, the SoC was granted after a comprehensive audit under the IACS Quality System Certification Scheme (IACS QSCS), covering both organizational governance and service execution.
The audit encompassed assessments at BKI’s head office and branch offices, as well as a Vertical Contract Audit (VCA) evaluating end-to-end service delivery on selected projects. This approach ensured consistency, traceability, and reliability across BKI’s operations.
The assessment was carried out by SGS China, an internationally accredited certification body, providing independent assurance that BKI’s quality management system complies with globally recognized standards.
The IACS QSCS scope covers the technical assessment and survey of vessels and mobile offshore installations, ensuring their safety, seaworthiness, and operational fitness throughout both construction and service life. In addition, BKI performs delegated statutory tasks on behalf of flag administrations, supporting governments in ensuring compliance with international maritime safety and environmental regulations. The certification confirms that these processes are implemented in a structured, measurable, and safety-focused manner.
The achievement of the SoC reflects BKI’s continued commitment to strengthening service quality, enhancing internal controls, and responding to growing global expectations for maritime safety and environmental protection.
This international recognition also reinforces BKI’s efforts to enhance its global standing and supports its ongoing pathway toward IACS membership. By aligning its operations with internationally recognized quality standards, BKI affirms its role in advancing the safety, reliability, and competitiveness of Indonesia’s maritime sector.
Through this achievement, BKI is expected to further strengthen stakeholder confidence and continue contributing to the development of a safe, reliable, and globally competitive shipping industry.
