Jakarta, May 1, 2026 — PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) (BKI) has once again maintained its “High Performance” classification in the Recognized Organization (RO) performance list published in the 2025 Tokyo MoU Annual Report. During the same assessment period, Indonesia also retained its “High Performance” status in the flag state performance ranking, reflecting the country’s continued progress in strengthening maritime safety and fleet quality at the international level.
The Tokyo Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control in the Asia-Pacific Region (Tokyo MoU) is a regional cooperation framework focused on enhancing shipping safety, marine environmental protection, and seafarer working conditions through inspections of foreign vessels calling at ports across member countries.
The 2025 assessment was based on cumulative inspection and detention data collected over the 2022–2025 period. Throughout the evaluation period, inspections of Indonesian-flagged vessels remained stable, while detention rates showed a consistent decline between 2023 and 2025.
The achievement highlights the strong collaboration among maritime stakeholders in improving national shipping standards. Contributions from the Ministry of Transportation as regulator, shipowners and operators, industry partners, and BKI as a Recognized Organization played an important role in maintaining this performance.
Maintaining “High Performance” status is expected to further support the international operations of Indonesian-flagged vessels while encouraging the continuous improvement of national shipping safety standards and operational reliability.
