Beijing, January 20, 2026 — PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) (BKI) conducted an official visit to the Maritime Safety Administration of the People’s Republic of China as part of its strategic plan to expand service operations in China. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation in ship survey and certification activities while enhancing support for BKI clients operating in the international maritime market.
The visit was led by BKI President Director R. Benny Susanto, accompanied by a delegation from BKI. Discussions focused on preparations for the establishment of a BKI service unit in China, including potential collaboration in classification services and initiatives to further support maritime safety.
The planned expansion is intended to reinforce BKI’s role in promoting shipping safety while improving the accessibility, responsiveness, and quality of its services for international stakeholders. Establishing a presence in China—one of the world’s key maritime hubs—will enable BKI to provide closer technical support aligned with the evolving needs of the global shipping industry.
This initiative also reflects BKI’s continued commitment to strengthening its international credibility and competitiveness, including its ongoing efforts toward membership in the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). Through this expansion, BKI aims to further position itself as a national classification society capable of contributing meaningfully to the global maritime industry.
