The meeting was attended by BKI Director of Classification Business Operations Arief Budi Permana; Chairperson of the Indonesian Ship and Offshore Facilities Industry Association (IPERINDO) and Technical Committee Chairperson Ir. Anita Puji Utami, S.T., M.A.P., IPM.; BKI VP of Research and Development for Classification & Statutory Business Fredhi Agung Prasetyo; and Director of Shipping and Maritime Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation Ir. Samsuddin, M.T., M.Mar.E., along with other KOMTEK members representing regulators, academics, and industry practitioners.

To ensure the drafting process remains transparent, objective, and accountable, BKI involves KOMTEK as a representative forum for stakeholders. The committee provides input and recommendations, while also reviewing and validating draft regulations and the research findings that support them.

Arief Budi Permana emphasized the importance of involving external stakeholders in the drafting of technical regulations to ensure consistent implementation and a shared understanding across the industry. “From an operational perspective, external validation is essential to ensure that BKI’s technical regulations, particularly the rules, can be applied consistently in the field, avoid multiple interpretations, and be accepted by all stakeholders,” he said.

This year’s KOMTEK session reviewed and validated 13 Classification Regulations scheduled to take effect in July 2026. The meeting also discussed current regulatory developments, technical updates related to IMO requirements, and research findings forming the basis for new regulations and amendments.

In addition, the session served as a forum to identify technical issues and make final refinements before publication. The process is intended to ensure that the regulations remain relevant to technological progress, industry needs, and applicable national and international standards.

Through the Technical Committee Meeting, BKI reaffirmed its commitment to delivering classification regulations that are relevant, reliable, and in line with global standards. The effort reflects BKI’s continued support for the safety, quality, and advancement of Indonesia’s maritime industry.
