Jakarta, July 10, 2025 — PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) (BKI), in collaboration with the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, has concluded the 2025 Oversight Program. The initiative, held from July 1–10 in a hybrid format across BKI’s Head Office in Jakarta and its branch offices in Samarinda, Batam, and Tanjung Priok, aimed to strengthen supervision of Indonesian-flagged vessels.

The program is part of an ongoing cooperation agreement between BKI and the Directorate General of Sea Transportation to oversee surveys and statutory certifications, ensuring compliance with both national and international maritime regulations.

The program was officially opened by BKI Director Arief Budi Permana and Director of Shipping and Maritime Affairs Ir. Samsuddin, M.T., M.Mar.E. As part of the oversight, the government monitored Recognized Organizations (ROs) and evaluated Indonesia’s overseas shipping fleet capabilities—an effort critical to maintaining Indonesia’s position on the Tokyo MoU whitelist and shaping future strategic policies.

Despite its hybrid format, the oversight team conducted a thorough evaluation of survey processes, procedures, and regulatory implementation.

Through this synergy, BKI and the Directorate General of Sea Transportation reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing the quality of ship supervision, strengthening Indonesia’s maritime competitiveness, and supporting safe, efficient, and sustainable shipping.
