Jakarta, April 27, 2026 — PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) (BKI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT PLN Indonesia Power (PLN-IP) to explore strategic collaboration across a range of technical services, including certification, inspection, non-destructive testing, laboratory services, surveys, engineering, and decarbonisation initiatives. The signing, held at PLN Indonesia Power’s office in Jakarta, marks an initial step toward strengthening cooperation to support safe, reliable, and sustainable power generation.

The MoU establishes a framework for both parties to assess potential collaboration opportunities, including technical support and regulatory compliance, while identifying associated benefits, risks, and implementation pathways for future initiatives.

The agreement was signed in the presence of BKI President Director R. Benny Susanto, accompanied by Director of Commercial Business Operations Erwin Ernanto Hoesni and VP of CoE Energy R. Sapto Agung Pramusinto. PLN Indonesia Power was represented by its President Director, Bernadus Sudarmanta, along with senior management.

During the signing, R. Benny Susanto reaffirmed BKI’s commitment as a strategic technical partner. "BKI is prepared to leverage its deep technical expertise, independence, and competence to ensure that PLN Indonesia Power’s facilities—from operations to maintenance—adhere to the highest international standards for safety, quality, and regulatory compliance," Susanto stated.

Bernadus Sudarmanta, President Director of PT PLN Indonesia Power, highlighted the evolving role of BKI. He noted that BKI is now a vital partner in the broader energy sector, moving beyond its traditional maritime roots. This shift is crucial for PLN-IP, which manages over 400 generating units providing approximately 25% of the nation’s electricity.

"BKI offers the sophisticated inspection and certification capabilities essential to our business transformation and asset management," said Sudarmanta. "As we scale our renewable energy projects and navigate complex operational dynamics, this collaboration is a strategic step toward strengthening our long-term performance and sustainability."

A key focus of the collaboration is decarbonisation, with BKI expected to provide engineering solutions and feasibility studies to support the transition toward more environmentally sustainable power generation systems. This aligns with broader efforts to achieve Net Zero Emissions and strengthen the resilience of Indonesia’s energy sector.

Through this partnership, BKI reinforces its role as a trusted provider of testing, inspection, certification, and statutory services, supporting risk mitigation, operational reliability, and national energy security.
